从《厄舍古屋的倒塌》解读爱伦·坡的人格结构

摘要
从二元对立关系角度——理性和非理性在小说《厄舍古屋的倒塌》三个人物(罗德里克和他的妹妹玛德琳,以及叙述者)中的体现,解读爱伦·坡的人格结构在作品中的体现。在这部小说中,罗德里克代表了非理性,是作者人格结构中的"本我";玛德琳代表了理性,是作者人格结构中的"自我";叙述者则是理性和非理性的融合体,在理性与非理性之间界定,是作者人格结构的"超我"。《厄舍古屋的倒塌》体现了爱伦·坡寻找完整人格结构的过程。
From the perspective of binary opposition,the rationality and irrationality of the three characters in the novel( Roderick,his sister Madeleine and the Narrator) reflect the personality structure of Edgar Allan Poe. In this novel,Roderick represents irrationality,which is the "id"in the author's personality structure; his sister Madeleine represents rationality,which is the "ego"in the author's personality structure; the Narrator is the fusion of rationality and irrationality,defined between the rational and irrational,which is the "superego"in the author's personality structure. Finally,this paper argues that The Fall of the House of Usher actually embodies the process in which Edgar Allan Poe endeavors to find a complete personality structure.
